Parent FAQ
Straight answers to the things parents actually ask before letting their kid loose on a new site.
What ages is this for? +
Game-by-game it varies, but the catalog spans roughly 4–12. Every game has a Sprout tier that's no-fail (designed for the youngest reader/non-reader), a Spark tier with lives + timers, and an Ace tier for the older + competitive kid. Recommended age is on each game card.
Is it free? +
Yes — every game in the catalog is free to play, no payment ask, no trial paywall.
Do I need an account? +
No. Anonymous play works fully — every game runs and saves your progress locally. An account is only needed if you want scores on the leaderboard, the adaptive engine remembering you across devices, the parent dashboard, or weekly email digests.
What data is collected? +
For anonymous players: local browser storage only (your scores, language pair, theme preference). For signed-in users: scores, time played, accuracy per game/mode/item, achievements. That's it. No third-party trackers run inside the gameplay surface.
Can I delete my child's account + data? +
Yes, self-service from the profile page. The delete removes the user, scores, achievements, learning signals, sessions — everything tied to the user_id. We also offer JSON export of all your data before deletion.
How does the "adaptive" part work without becoming homework? +
When your child plays a math/words/letters mode, the engine quietly logs accuracy per individual item (the equation "7 × 8", the word "elephant"). Wrong answers come back sooner; mastered items space out for spaced review. The kid sees no homework UI — they see the same game, biased toward what they need.
What's on the parent dashboard? +
At /parent: today + 7-day + all-time play time, a per-day bar chart, subjects covered, accuracy trend this week vs prior, top played games, recent achievement unlocks, last 15 plays, and — critically — a "Needs practice" card listing the specific items your kid is struggling with (e.g. "7 × 8", "elephant"). Each row links to the game where they'll see it again.
How does the weekly email digest work? +
Sunday morning summary of the past 7 days: play time, plays, accuracy, top games, new unlocks, items needing practice. Opt-out from the email footer or your profile page. Default is on for new accounts.
My kid wants to play with a friend. Can they? +
Yes — Balloon Ninja and Chopper Drop both have a "Challenge a friend" CTA on the game page. Mint a match, share the URL, your friend plays the exact same prompt sequence, results compare side-by-side at /vs/{code}. Async — both players don't need to be online at the same time.
Does it work offline? +
Yes — installable as a PWA on Android Chrome and iOS Safari. The shell + last-played pages are cached so the kid can keep going on a spotty connection.
